Chapter Eight Page 172
Out. Of. Place.
There is actually a good deal of personal experience in this. A few years back while living in San Jose, CA, I attended multiple comic creators workshops that were held at a popular San Jose based indie comic book publisher (I wont say who exactly, but it’s pretty easy to figure out). When asked to read our synopsis’s, we were told that they should be short and to the point – a paragraph or two. Of course, NO ONE did this. Everyone had a 5 page freaking synopsis and they would not shut up about their dumb ideas. Sure, there were a couple that sounded good, but most were self indulgent dribble. And they wouldn’t shut up about it! At the time, I was working on a sci-fi comic (which I never completed) and so when I was asked to read my synopsis I kept it down to just a few sentences, which at that point I think surprised the teacher.
